Pipers Crisps endeavours to make Britain’s tastiest potato crisps. Since 2007 they have won 23 Gold Great Taste Awards and have just been voted “Best Snack Brand” by the readers of Fine Food Digest for the fourth year in a row. Pipers are made using locally sourced potatoes that are cooked in pure sunflower oil. They are then seasoned with flavours sourced from passionate regional suppliers who are highlighted on the pack. Pipers have a direct sales team and a fleet of vans that operate from three distribution depots in Lincoln, Epping and Oxford that enables direct delivery over much of the country. Alternatively, they can be sourced from selected wholesale distributers.
Our Cheddar Cheese is supplied by Lye Cross Farm situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills near the village of Cheddar. The Alvis family, farming here for over 400 years, employs traditional methods and skills such as ‘cheddaring’- the practice of turning and stacking the curds until they are mature and full of flavour.
Lye Cross Cheddar & Onion is just one of seven Great Taste Award-winning flavours in the Pipers’range. We source all our flavour ingredients from specialist producers who care as much about the quality of their products as we care about ours. We are proud to tell their story on the back of every packet of crisps we sell.
At Pipers we use these flavours, together with the best potatoes, to cook our crisps to perfection. We remove just enough skin and slice the potatoes to the right thickness before batch cooking them, by hand, in 100% pure sunflower oil. We don’t blanch our potatoes; instead we allow the natural sugars to turn the crisps a rich, golden brown during the frying process. Once they’ve reached the right colour and texture, and are still warm, we generously season them with the flavours we’ve sourced from our specialist producers. We then quickly and carefully seal the crisps into bags so you can enjoy that fresh, just-cooked taste straight out of every pack.
It takes time and it’s a lot of work, but we think you’ll agree that the delicious taste and texture of our crisps justifies every minute we spend on them.
